Spring ’08 Class Schedule
Class Policy (Please read)
In order to provide the personal instruction necessary for your success, we keep our
classes small. As a result, classes do fill up. Please register early to reserve your
space and avoid unnecessary cancellations. Full payment is required at time of
registration. Please be certain of your availability as there are no refunds if you must
cancel. If The Village Knitter must cancel a class, a full refund will be given. Class
fees do not include materials unless otherwise noted. All students receive a 10%
discount while enrolled in a class.
Beginning Knitting:
Knitting 101: For absolute beginners and those whose skills may be rusty. In this
two-session class, you will learn the foundation of all knitting: to cast on, bind off, the
knit and purl stitches. Two 1-1/2 hour sessions/ $45

Knitting 301- Beginning Sweater Construction In this intensive three-part
class, you will learn make a sleeveless cardigan vest. Included is increasing,
deceasing and finishing techniques. A thorough knowledge of knit, purl, cast on and
bind off is a prerequisite. If you're bored with scarves and want to move into the big
leagues, this is your class. 3 sessions/ $75
- Wednesday, June 11, June 18 & July 2 10-11:30 AM
Beginning Crochet:
Crochet 101: This introductory class will teach you the basics, including slip stitch,
chain stitch, both single and double crochet. Edging and finishing techniques will
help you to complete a beautiful lacy scarf just perfect for those chilly Spring
evenings.. Two- 1 ½ hour sessions $45 To Be Announced
Special Workshop: Free Form Knitting
Join guest instructor Sharon Wofford-Barnes as she leads us through the
fascinating world of free-form knitting. Using small amounts of many types of yarn
(perfect for using up your stash), we will construct a one-of-a-kind purse. Truly
inspiring!

One Session Project Classes for the New Knitter
If you're bored with making scarves, would like to learn a new technique or attempt
an exciting new project, these are the classes to inspire you to reach the next level.
Course requirements: Knitting 101 or ability to knit, purl, cast on and bind off. These
classes are one session only/ $25 plus materials

- A Summer Shawl! If you have completed Knitting 101 or can already knit
and purl, you’re halfway there. In this two session follow-up, you will learn
increasing, decreasing, yarn overs, dropped stitches and much more about
yarn choices and following patterns. To Be Announced
- Beaded Cuff Bracelet Once you learn the technique of knitting with
beads, you can whip these out in no time. Adapts to a necklace as
well. Tuesday, April 8 7:30-9 PM
- Potato Chip Scarf Perhaps you've seen or heard of it, this one's a head
turner. A unique yarn together with an unorthodox method yields incredible
results. Tuesday, April 22 7:30-9 PM
- Coffee Mug Cozy: as seen in Knitting Daily. A great primer on knitting with
double point needles, increasing and making I-cord. This project knits up
quickly and uses very little yarn. Tuesday, April 29 7:30-9 PM
- Beaded Coasters: two easy patterns are provided for quick and EASY
coasters that make fabulous gifts. You'll want to knit several sets. A great
follow-up class to Knitting 101. Tuesday, May 5 7:30-9 PM
- Bangle Bracelet: another of our series of quick and easy accessories.
These beauties sell on the Internet for a small fortune. Make yours for
pennies. Tuesday, May 12 7:30-9 PM
Two Session Classes- 1-1/2 hours each/ $45
- Fantastic Felting- Gelato Bag An easy felted Spring bag with fantastic
silk flower embellishments. If you've never made a felted bag, this one is a
greater starter. Tuesday, May 19 & May 26 7:30-9 PM
- The Brea Baguette (Non-felted) A great design by Norah Gaughan, this
bag incorporates simple cables and a store bought handle or
belt. Saturday, May 3 & May 10 9:30-11 AM
- Socks on Magic Loop If you're a double-pointed sock knitter and would
like to learn a faster, easier way, this is it. Intermediate knitting skills (or
previous sock knitting) required. This ever-popular class fills up quickly, so
sign up early. Two 1-1/2 hour sessions/$45
Sunday, April 20 & May 4 9:30-11 AM
- Entrelac Scarf: if you've been knitting for a awhile and been curious (or too
intimidated) to learn Entrelac technique, now is your chance. This finished
scarf is gorgeous! Friday, May 17 & May 24 7-8:30 PM
- Beginner Pedicure Socks in no time flat, you'll knit up a sporty pair of
short toe-less socks in one of our favorite multi-color elastic yarns. This
class is the perfect introduction to sock knitting. Warning: once you've made
one pair, you won't be able to stop. To Be Announced
- Kids' Knitting 101 (ages 8 & up) Not only is knitting FUN but it improves
fine motor skills, math abilities, direction following and provides nearly
instant gratification for kids with short attention spans.

- Teen Knitting 101 (ages 13 & up) Believe it or not, teenagers are
responsible for one of the largest growth segments in knitting today. Learn
now a valuable craft for life. You'll be SOOOOOOO glad you did!

T.G.I. Thursday: Open Knit-Along Night 6-8:30 PM
Chances are, it’s been a long week and you could use a relaxing night out knitting
with the girls. (Men welcome also). No instruction, per se, just lots of support, ideas
and inspiration. Laughs included. BYO refreshments, if desired. (No
Charge).
Private Lessons: One-on-one instruction is also available at $30/hour or
$20/half hour. Perfect if you can't attend one of our scheduled classes. By
appointment only.
Make-Your-Own Classes: Sign up with several friends to create your own
class. Bring refreshments and make it a party!
